entered politics at age eight, assisting his father’s victorious run for Mayor of Cary, Illinois in 1969. From that point on, Republican politics was in his blood.
After having moved around the country during his young adult years, he settled back in the city of his birth, Chicago, in 1992. In 1994 he received a call from then 42nd Ward Committeeman, Clark Pellett and joined the 42nd Ward organization, eventually becoming Pellett's campaign manager in 2000. In addition to that campaign, he helped over twenty candidates become Republican Committeemen in the city. In the 2000 Presidential Election, Jim appeared on the ballot as a delegate for Sen. John McCain. During those years and up to 2004, he helped many Committeemen with their duties, specializing in maintaining databases with voter information allowing the Committeemen to communicate with their constituents, raise funds, etc. Jim also offers these services to Republican Committeemen throughout Cook County, as well any viable Republican candidates and their campaigns.
Jim has been active in his church, Holy Name Cathedral, serving a three year term on the Pastor's Parish Pastoral Council, as well as serving as Eucharistic Minister for the past eleven years. He is now training to become a Lector.
In 2001 Jim moved from downtown Chicago to the 44th Ward. Here, he helped the previous Committeeman as Judge Coordinator, and later as Executive Director. After learning in late 2003 that the Committeeman would not seek reelection, Jim decided to pursue it himself.
Upon becoming Committeeman in March of 2004, he immediately set about creating a strong and thriving organization. After only a year’s time, this organization holds monthly meetings, attended on average by 50 to 60 active, enthusiastic Republicans. He has recruited six officers to assist with his duties, and is always soliciting applicants for Judges of Election and Precinct Captains. In November of 2004, Jim recruited and coordinated Judges for all fifty precincts, and organized poll-watchers to cover all precincts on Election Day. His organization continues to grow every month and, with the help of these vital Republican volunteers, Jim plans to bring the 44th Ward from sixth in the city to fifth or fourth in Republican votes on Primary Election Day, in March 2006.
