Apply to become a Precinct Captain
Become a 44th Ward Precinct Captain
Precinct Captains will become the backbone of our organization. Nothing will occur regarding voting and Board of Election activities without the knowledge and understanding by the Precinct Captains. They will be the main communication conduit for transmission of information between the voters and the organization. The Precinct Captain is the face of the organization, and by extension, the Republican Party.
Precinct Captain Requirements:
- Live in the 44th Ward (preferably within the precinct assigned)
- Good Republican voting history
- Strong people and organizational skills
- Have access to computer and e-mail
- Sense of duty to the Republican Party
- Precinct Captains are precluded from serving as Judges of Election
Basic Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Required:
- Know the assigned precinct boundaries and the voters within
- Get to know the Republicans within the precinct
- Communicate with assigned Judges of Election
- Exercise understanding of the concept of organizing people
- Be available to work all day on Election Day
Desired:
- Monitor voter movement within the precinct (move-ins, move-outs)
- Report any political activity occurring within the precinct
- Report any unusual business activity within the precinct
- Occasionally hold "coffees" or small gatherings with Republicans in the precinct
- Promote the Republican Party (and our organization)
- Bring coffee and donuts and/or lunches to Judges of Election on Election Day
Appointment and Length of Term
Precinct Captains, once approved, serve under the Precinct Captain Leader and Committeeman, and may serve for any length of time. This is a voluntary position and therefore unfortunately no salary. Precinct Captains will be, however, recognized for their service and rewarded occasionally with free tickets to events, as well as recognition within the organization.
We are looking for one precinct captain per precinct (out of fifty). Although it is desirable for a Precinct Captain to live in his or her precinct, it is not a requirement. Until all positions are filled, it is possible for a Precinct Captain to take responsibilities for more than one precinct.
You may print an application by clicking the link below, fill it out, then mail it to the Committeeman at the address at the bottom of the page. You may also want to acknowledge your desire to become a Precinct Captain by going to the Join Us page, enter your information and select Precinct Captain in the Interest pick list, and you will receive the application via mail as well as be contacted by a member of the organization within a few days.
